Today, it is important for every seagoing vessel to take into account an efficient ballast water management plan. Reikon will be happy to provide you with the necessary support. In this way, we jointly ensure that we cause as little damage as possible to the ecosystems and set a course that complies with today's guidelines.
Ballast water management is the process of safely loading, transporting and unloading ballast water, without damaging the ecosystems. A ballast water treatment installation is nowadays mandatory for every seagoing vessel, so that ballast water will not pose a danger to people or the environment.

In the Netherlands, Reikon is the exclusive supplier of OceanGuard, a renowned ballast water treatment installation. But how does the installation work exactly? By means of electrocatalysis OceanGuard makes use of advanced oxidation. Powerful particles are created during the process. Particles that can be used to destroy bacteria, viruses and other microorganisms from the water.
These particles, also called hydroxyl radicals, only exist for a few nanoseconds. The end products are therefore not dangerous, which means that the ingested water can then be safely thrown overboard. Without endangering ecosystems.
The OceanGuard is a widely used, efficient ballast water treatment installation. Therefore, the process of electrocatalysis has a very low power consumption. Another advantage of OceanGuard is that - thanks to its high level of efficiency - only one treatment is needed. Namely only when taking ballast water. Want to know more? Feel free to contact us.
